summer, music and molly moon's!

whether you're at the beach, en route to Timber! Outdoor Music Festival or waiting in line for a scoop of ice cream, great music is the perfect backdrop for Seattle's favorite season.
music is hugely important to all of us here at molly moon's. Molly used to run Music For America, a national non-profit that partnered with 400 bands to register people to vote during the 2004 and 2006 elections. when she opened the first molly moon's five years ago, she decided to let the scoopers choose the music that gets played in the shops - something that is really important to our employees to this day.
this year we put together the first annual molly moon's perfect summer soundtrack with help from our entire staff. everyone from scoopers, to managers, to Molly herself collaborated to bring you this playlist of music that, to us, is what summer in the Northwest is all about.
naturally, you'll find some of our favorite local artists on this list (hometown boys Macklemore & Ryan Lewis just shot a video at Dick's Drive-In a few blocks from our Capitol Hill shop!) but we also included some superstars (like Beyoncé) and legends (like Stevie Wonder). we wanted this list to be fresh and upbeat, but also classic with a touch of nostalgia.

music is a pretty big summer tradition here in the Northwest. right around the time you’ve recovered from Sasquatch!, it’s already time to start picking out your outfit for Capitol Hill Block Party. or maybe you’re a festival pioneer, and you’re headed off to the new Timber! festival in Carnation, Wa. before you know it, it’s time to pack your picnic basket for KEXP & Seattle Center's Concerts at the Mural and plan your Bumbershoot strategy. (are they really going to make you choose between David Bazan and Fun?!)
we're not running out of ice cream any time soon, and molly moon's perfect summer soundtrack is available on Spotify twenty-four-seven.
so turn up the volume, because summer's not over yet!
